What To Give Him For Christmas!

I guess Christmas is coming! I never thought I would see anyone really pushing socks for Christmas!

What To Give Him For Christmas!
By Rupert Bowling

So what do you give to the man who has everything? Difficult isn't it? Unless you are prepared to spend £200 on a new camcorder (I bet he already has one) or is it a new Motorbike he really wants? I can really only speak for myself, when I say come Christmas time:

"There is really nothing I need. " And it is true. Most of my friends are the same. We live in a society in the west that is extremely lucky. Like the Romans before us, we really want for very little. (That is a whole new article though

So, it was a surprise, and a bit of a joke when last Christmas I got some Jazzy Mens Socks from my wife Sue. To say I was delighted, would I am afraid be a lie, but I can say with honesty, that I was not disappointed. After all, my current sock drawer was full of socks badly matched, and with holes in every other one. It may come as a surprise to you to discover that a man who runs a menswear shop has holes in his socks. And If I tell you that I used to work for a sock manufacturer in the UK, I guess that makes it worse. all I can say to you is "The Cobbler's Children Have No Shoes". I have no other line of defence.

So socks for Christmas? How corny can you get? Well not alot actually. That is one of the delights. The other is that these socks are special socks. They are colour coded. This means that when SHE (that is my wife Sue in my case) comes to sort the washing, it is easy. Red to red, blue to blue, grey to grey green to green and (dare I say it ) pink to pink. Meanwhile, I get to wear black socks. Call me conservative if you like, but the thought of having to choose a pair of socks in the morning is more than I can bear.

The reality is, I like them so much, I decided to sell them. So, wondering what to buy him for Christmas this year?

Why not go traditional! Buy him some quality socks!

Anniversary Gift

Here a joke about an anniversary gift:

John asks his wife, Mary what she wants to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary.

"Would you like a new mink coat?" he asks.

"Not really," says Mary.

"Well how about a new Mercedes sports car?" says John.

"No," she responds.

"What about a new vacation home in the country?" he suggests.

She again rejects his offer with a "No thanks."

"Well what would you like for your anniversary?" John asks.

"John, I'd like a divorce," answers Mary.

"Sorry, I wasn't planning to spend that much," says John.

Tips for Purchasing Jewellery as a Gift

It can be hard to get a jewellery gift, but if you get it right it can be stunning. Here are some tips on buying jewellery gifts.

Tips for Purchasing Jewellery as a Gift
By Nathan Hartnett

People often visit us with the question, “What should I buy as a gift?” Whether it is for a birthday, a wedding anniversary, Valentines Day, Christmas or “just because”, jewellery has been the gift of choice of many for thousands of years. As such, we have compiled a list of “things to think about” when purchasing jewellery as a gift on the internet, that we hope will ensure there will be less stress and more joy when you next decide to give one of the most treasured gifts that you can give.

1. If you are looking to buy a ring, the number one question has to be “how do I know what size to buy?” If you are not sure of what size their finger is, or aren’t even sure which finger they would prefer to wear the ring on, this can quite obviously be a source of distress! There have been many ingenious ways that people have used over the years to determine ring size, from stealing one of their other rings and finding out its size, to tying a piece of string around their finger while they sleep. Some of these ideas work well, but none of them are perfect. The ideal solution is to be aware that unless you drug them (not recommended by Titan Jewellery), and then get an accurate ring size, you probably aren’t going to get their size perfect first time. So what is the solution? By all means do your best to find out their ring size by whatever means necessary, but buy from a company that will allow you to exchange the ring for the correct size if you need to. You will normally have to ensure that the ring is returned in perfect condition, so as soon as you determine that the ring size is incorrect; return it to its original packaging.

The second alternative is to purchase a gift certificate instead. An electronic gift certificate means that not only do they get to choose the size themselves, but they also get to choose the style.

2. The second most important tip when purchasing any gift off the internet is to "get in early!" The vast majority of jewellery on the internet will have to be shipped to you. While any company worth dealing with should send you your item within a couple of days of ordering, once it has left that company’s hands, it is then purely up to the shipping company that handles the shipping as to when it arrives at your doorstep. During holiday “gift giving” seasons, so many gifts of all descriptions get shipped around the world, that shipping can come to a standstill, and normal shipping times can be extended significantly. There is nothing worse than ordering the perfect gift off the internet, only to have it arrive several days, or even weeks, too late. The answer? Get in early! If you are buying a Christmas gift for example, double the standard shipping time you see on any jewellery company’s website (unless using express post or courier options). You will often find also, that many online companies offer early bird specials in an effort to get customers to purchase their gifts at a time when they will be guaranteed not to be disappointed.

The second alternative is once again to purchase an electronic gift certificate. If you have left it to the last minute, don’t despair! An electronic gift certificate can be emailed to you within hours of purchasing it. The recipient can then choose whatever item they like (in whatever size!) and the added bonus is that after the holiday season, the postage times will go back to normal, so they shouldn’t have to wait!

3. What kind of ring/gift is appropriate? Well, that often depends on how well you know the recipient. The first obvious distinction is whether they are male or female. Might they prefer a pendant or pair of earrings instead of a ring? Have a look at what they wear, if they don’t normally wear pendants, or they don’t have pierced ears, these are probably pretty good indications that they would prefer a ring! If they do wear pendants or earrings, then these make popular alternatives – particularly if the jewellery is hypoallergenic.

If you have decided to purchase them a ring, what style should you go for? For gentlemen, we would recommend watching what they wear, and decide between getting them a casual dress ring, or an elite dress ring depending on whether they prefer the casual or dressier style of appearance.

If it is a lady you are purchasing for, have a look at the rings she currently wears. Are they large and ostentatious? Or are they simple, elegant and refined? If she normally wears a wedding or engagement ring, you don’t want to overshadow that ring with the one you purchase her; otherwise she may not wear it very often.

2 Embroidered or printed clothing makes a great personalized gift. The most common is a t-shirt, but there are many other types of mens clothing that can be personalized just for him. You can make up your own special message and have it printed on the shirt. You can even have one of your favorite images printed on a shirt or other garment just for him. Why not give a him special t-shirt with a treasured photo of you on the front, and maybe a message from you on the back. It's all possible.

And printed clothing can also make wonderful personalized fathers day gifts. Perhaps a photo of his children, or grandchildren printed on it?

3 A personalized song can make a very special and romantic personalized gift for a man. There are companies online who specialise in producing personalized songs for customers. They have professional singers who will sing the song so that it sounds totally professional.

And you provide some of the personal details that are sung into the song. So included in the song for example, will be lyrics such as "to (him) from (you), sung right there into the song. You receive a professionally recorded and sung version of the song, along with a copy of the lyrics, all recorded onto cd or cassette.

For around $50 a personal song makes a beautiful romantic personalized gift for him.

Shopping For Gifts Online Makes Life Easier

A nice summary of how to make gift getting easier!

Shopping For Gifts Online Makes Life Easier
By Kevin J

In the past, our lives didn't feel or seem as chaotic as they are today. In this day and age, many people find it hard to even allocate time to look after some of their most basic necessities. Fortunately for us, the advent of the internet has cured most of our time and location dilemmas. The phenomena known as the Internet has provided a crutch for us and helps most people solve their daily problems and support their daily needs. From communicating with a boss to seeing if your kids' school is closed, negotiating deals and catching up with a lost friend, from sending a gift basket to a loved one just to say hi or showing your deepest sympathies, the internet has provided us a means for almost everything we need with only a few clicks of a mouse. The advancements of computing technologies in this day and age are making some areas of life much easier, as this write up about shopping for gifts online will elucidate.

The question that we must first answer; why do people feel the need to purchase gifts for their loved ones, friends and colleagues? The simplest answer can be that a gift is a way of expressing our feelings or thoughts to somebody else that may be hard to express through other means. A gift is quite possibly the best way to express oneself to somebody else, because of the many emotions involved with receiving a gift. When the receiver opens up the package and reads the card, they are first overwhelmed by the fact that somebody spent their much valued time, effort and money on sending them a gift. The second emotion usually involves the message being expressed through the gift, which may be congratulations, recognition, sympathy, or just thinking of you. This emotion usually sends the receiver into a euphoric state overcome by the thought of getting such a wonderful surprise and through the way the sender expressed his or her feelings or thoughts. These emotions and feelings tied to gift giving and receiving is what keeps customers shopping the internet day in and day out for gifts and gift baskets.

We now know the advantages of receiving gifts but the idea of purchasing and sending a gift to a loved one, friend or colleague can make most people nauseous. That was before the internet came into our lives, when one would have to plan out which store to shop, drive there, walk around looking for the best way to express to their selves, find the right gift, go home wrap it and ship it. Phew, that was exhausting just writing down! Now there are no worries because of the many gift shops online.

One of the main advantages of shopping for gifts online is, like any other commodity, the variety of mediums one can choose from. Whether you want a gift or gift basket sent to USA, Middle East, Europe or South East Asia it is all possible and quite easy while shopping on the internet. While much gift shopping occurs in Asia, India, China and other eastern countries, the majority of the marketplace lies in the western world. There are scores of websites in N. America and Europe that offer high quality and inexpensive gifts and gift baskets to the masses.

Now we know how to give and receive gifts and gift baskets, so let's get into the science behind it. While shopping online for gifts, most stores will have your general gift ideas such as baby gifts, corporate gifts, wine & fruit baskets, holiday gifts, hand delivered gifts, and many other items for you loved ones, friends and colleagues. While shopping for the perfect gift, do not be overwhelmed by the vast selections offered but hone in on what you want to express and keep in mind the mood of the occasion without losing the personality of you and the receiver. Baby gifts will always subtle pink & blues with necessities for newborn and their parents. A corporate gift will express your professionalism with a splash of your personality.

A majority of the gifts and gift baskets you will run into online will be comprised of cookies, wines, fruits and chocolates along with some decorations to highlight moods and styles. Thank you, congratulations, breakfast, sympathy, coffee and tea, spa, wedding and birthday baskets are some universal gifts that one may come across at most of these online shopping stores. With this brief overview of the advantages of giving and receiving gifts through the internet, one could see why shopping for gifts online makes life easier in many ways.

Giving Gifts - Tips to Make it Easier

This article gives some (much needed!) advice on how to pick a gift for a particular person.

Giving Gifts - Tips to Make it Easier
By Maraya Mullen

Special occasions like birthdays and anniversaries used to be fun events filled with joy, laughter and happiness—that is, until the pressure brought by our inherent need to impress loved ones and make them happy by giving them the perfect gift became too much. Just weeks after wracking your brain figuring out what to give your niece this Christmas, you find yourself trying to think of great gifts ideas for mom and dad yet again as they prepare to celebrate their wedding anniversary.

Why bother with trying to find the perfect gift, then? Because for us, there is nothing like seeing the face of a loved-one light up when you manage to send a birthday gift or Christmas present that he or she absolutely loves. Yes, choosing unique Valentine’s Day gifts is not, never was, and never will be easy, but they are worth all the effort.

So to make life a little bit easier for all you generous but tired and confused gift-givers, here are some reminders and tips you can use to help make choosing gifts a little bit easier:

1. Use the Internet

More than making instantaneous communication between two persons located on two different continents possible, the Internet has also opened a floodgate of information and helped further broaden the global market. Make the most of the opportunities the Internet presents and use it to research for inexpensive Christmas ideas or, after you’ve thoroughly checked the store’s background, buy unique birthday gifts online.

2. Think of the personality of the gift’s recipient

The most important thing to consider when buying a gift is the recipient’s personality, his/her likes and dislikes. What most people appreciate most about the gifts they are given is the fact that the gift has been given a lot of thought. A person who is into gangster movies would likely appreciate a complete, special edition DVD set of the Godfather movies than a first edition book on knitting, however rare it may be.

3. Think, and buy, ahead.

One of the worst things you can do when buying gifts is to wait until the very last minute. Not only will you not be able to thoroughly think about what gift to give and force you to buy in haste, you also end up feeling stressed and tired (ever tried Christmas shopping on the 23rd of December?) So always give yourself a few days or weeks to do your gift shopping, not only will you end up with better gifts, you’ll also enjoy the act of buying (or making) the gifts better.

4. It’s rarely about the price.

While a nice jewelry or the latest game console would be appreciated every once in a while, a homemade gift would also be cherished and loved if given from the heart (yes this sounds corny, but it’s true). Old school “dating” gift ideas and items like mixed tapes (or in this digital world, mixed CDs) and scrapbooks are still popular with couples because they appeal to the sentiment, to the emotions and to the heart.

Remember that giving a gift is supposed to be a heartwarming and pleasant experience. Don’t let the pressure of choosing the perfect present ruin it for you.

Maraya Mullen is a copywriter affiliated with Gifts and Goodies, an online shopping store that allows clients to send gifts directly to their loved ones. Visit their site to get dating gift ideas, inexpensive Christmas gift ideas or to buy unique Valentine day gifts.

Fresh Flower Bouquets - A Perfect Gift

Some good advice regarding one of the oldest gifts.
Fresh Flower Bouquets - A Perfect Gift

By Bethany Isabell

The whole idea of presenting near and dear ones with gifts is a phenomena extremely old. People are pampering their friends and relatives with gifts from time immemorial. The whole idea of giving gifts originated from the fact that one must not only love a person, but also express his feelings about him. The feeling of being loved and cared for is a feeling that really charges up a person and works as a tonic for the tired heart. Easy, therefore, to understand why the practice of giving gifts is an activity that has been carried on for ages now.

And when it comes to giving gifts, then one item that has always been in demand is the flower bouquet. It is easy to understand why. Fresh flower bouquets are liked by everyone. There is something in its fragrance that brings smiles to everyone's lips. Needless, therefore, to say that flower bouquets are gifts that can be given to anyone and on any occasion. Whether the occasion is that of a marriage, a birthday or an informal get together, one can bank on bouquets to do the trick.

Flower bouquets can also be a very worthy gift on occasions when one cannot attend the function. All that he needs to do is to order fresh flower bouquets for the concerned person. And he will see that his absence would be forgiven. Indeed, a bouquet of flowers is just the right gift to get your absence excused. No wonder then that bouquet of fresh flowers are in great demand in the UK. Another reason for their extreme popularity throughout the country is the fact that they are available in a large variety and in various price ranges, which gives people ample opportunity to select their favourite, keeping in mind their budget.

Thus, it becomes clear that as long as the relations and feelings last, people would continue giving gifts to each other; and as long as the convention of giving gifts is there, flowers and flower bouquets would hold a special place amongst people.

Bethani Isabell is an expert author in the domain of various types of online gifts such as champagne gifts, fresh flower bouquets, etc. She has an amazing charisma in her write-ups as she possess the capability of presenting the beautiful and 'emotional' aspect of gift items. This appeals to people from every section of the society.

Which Type of Gift Giver Are You?

We all approach giving gifts for birthdays, anniversaries and other occasions in different ways. Some of us are very organized, some of us let it creep up on us and some of us remember the day of the party. Outlined below are some character-types when it comes to gift giving. Which one are you?

The Stockpiler has been know to hoard gifts for several years. In fact, don't be surprised if any gift from them smells somewhat must and has an FW Woolworth price tag. They can be seen scouring sales racks after significant holidays; or buying in bulk in a discount store just before Christmas. They are actually quite generous in that they give a large number of gifts, but tend to care more about how they appear to others rather than about the recipients of those gifts. They could probably use a greeting card organizer (if they don't already have one); and they more than likely have a gift closet of even a gift room!

The Organizer tends to know by heart the birthdays, anniversaries and other significant dates of their relatives and friends. This doesn't stop them from entering the information into a database on their PC - particularly as it makes printing out the addresses easier. A greeting card organizer is a thing from the past here - they have the latest greeting card computer program plus a wide range of paper types. They generally have decided on a gift well before the event and quite probably have it wrapped with paper from their gift closet. Their greatest achievement was to convince their co-workers to put everyone's birthday in a file on the company LAN.

The Overthinker agonizes over every gift they give. They are quite often last-minute shoppers simply because they can't make their mind up. They can be seen rushing from store to store looking for that hard to get item they finally decided on. They remember who gave what to whom years back and tend to over-complicate their life in general.

The Last-minuter is different from the Overthinker in that they deliberately leave it until the day before (or even on the way!) and refuse to think about the gift until then. They can be seen at the mall or large stores on Christmas Eve with numerous bags of stuff. They certainly don't buy online - well, except for flowers of course, now that you can order same day!

The Forgetful One knows when everyone's birthday is within a season or two. If they do actually get a gift well in advance they will probably forget to bring it on the day. They NEED a greeting card organizer....but they'd probably lose it. They are gleefully welcomed by the proprietors of mini-marts and gas stations, being their main revenue source for greetings cards, gift cards from obscure stores, boxes of chocolates and those DVDs with a particularly thick covering of dust. Every week they thank their God for the invention of gift cards.

The Crafter doesn't believe that it's a true gift unless at least part of it has had work put into it. They don't need greeting card organizers being able to make a card out of some old newspaper, ribbon and dog hair. They are famous for their Christmas sweaters and spare bathroom tissue holders. The pure Crafters also make their own wrapping paper.

The Delegator knows when birthdays etc. are but has no interest in what they actually give. They pass on the choice of gift to their significant other, siblings, secretary etc. If they do have to get a gift it's almost always a pre-paid credit card, and a greeting card from that invaluable mini-mart or gas station.
